February 25, 2008

Hello Everyone this is Kelly & Mom with the latest update.

February 17 - Donna started throwing up again off and on all day, mom and dad were there for a visit and felt that she was dehydrated again and offered to take her to emergency for IV but she was not ready to go so she took some gravol and water, this did not stay down. At 6:30pm she finally agreed to go to emergency and after a long wait she was taken to a room and administered 2 bags of Sodium Chloride, gravol, anti nausea drug and a pain killer. After tolerating water for 1 hour they were able to take her back home and was told to go to the cancer clinic on Tuesday, February 19 for an ultra sound and to have the fluid drained off her enlarging abdomen.

February 19 - Donna went to the Cancer Clinic for blood tests and ultra sound, due to the amount of fluid they were unable drain the fluid, she was given fluid pills and sent home.

February 21 - This was to be her next round of Chemo where Colleen met her at the Cancer Clinic to spend the day with her. After not keeping much down in the past 3 weeks, her Oncologist being on holidays it was decided to remove the 24/7 Chemo cylinder and not to have her schedule Chemo treatment for that day. Since her abdomen had been enlarging for sometime she had 3.5 liters of fluid drained. She was happy to go home and be unattached to her Chemo cylinder and to be able to get her energy back.

February 22 - When she talked to mom she was complaining about cramps but was all excited to be going shopping with Colleen, but Colleen came down with a sore throat and cold overnight she did not want to expose Donna, therefore Donna spent the day resting at home.

February 23 - Donna MacDonald call her on Saturday and went over for tea, she found Donna once again not tolerating food and having diarrhea and cramps. She offered to take her to emergency where she was given 2 more bags of Sodium Chloride, gravol. Donna M stayed with her and kept informing our family as to what was happening and at midnight she was back home. Thanks so much for being there Donna M. you truly a great and caring friend.

February 24 - Darren called mom and dad to say that Bonnie Nemeth took Donna to the hospital. Mom, Dad and Brenda arrive at the hospital at 3:00pm and was told that Donna was still in emergency and Bonnie still sitting with Donna, neither of them had anything to eat. Thanks Bonnie, another truly great and caring friend. Later Donna was admitted for more Sodium Chloride, graval, anti nausea drugs and a pain killer. This was to be her enjoyable Chemo free weekend, not the case ...

February 25 - Donna blood test came back, nothing alarming all is fine and she had another x-ray but no sign of a blockage, still she cannot keep anything down and still seem to have fluid building. In talking with her this evening the pain killer that they are giving her is really knocking her out but she still has pain. Donna has also requested TPX which is a nutrient and vitamin IV ... hopefully she will get her way and they will start her on this, she definitely needs nutrition and vitamins to continue on this battle to beat the cancer. Donna M spent has been spending from 4pm to 8pm with Donna and says that she mostly sleeps but enjoys just having someone with her. Darren was to give her a chariot ride in the wheelchair through the hospital as soon as he arrive ... she maybe in the hospital but still needs her outings.

Donna would also like to Thank Lori-ann Earis for coming into the city, they went to the Cancer Centre for the Feel Good Session and out for supper ... Donna said it was awesome and she came home with great cosmetics, it was nice to just be out there again.

Till our next posting keep our Sister/Daughter in your prayers.
