March 13, 2008

Sorry for not updating yesterday ... but there was not really anything to report and today is the same.

Yesterday around 1:30pm they changed her position and she really took a slide for 2 hours, only to prove everyone wrong again ... her pulse dropped from 126 to 44 yesterday and is now stabled back out at 84 ... yesterday after the incident she was down to 4 gasping breaths per/minute and now is breathing normally again with no gasping.

She continually shows signs of going off to the place of peace since Friday and then they stop. She has turned cold 2 times then warmed up again ... her pulse was at 126 for 4 days then dropped ... her feet and hands are motteling.

We are not sure what she is waiting for ... we have read her all the comments on this blog, have put the phone to her ear when family calls ... and yes, we have given her permission to take her journey.

Just to ensure we were not missing anything and knowing the obsession she had with the phone, her life line to all, Terry placed a phone calling card in her hand and told her she could call whenever and whoever ... we all know the importance of the phone to her then mom followed this up by putting the phone in her hand. She then went into total relaxation and had a very comfortable night.

You may think that this is not right but without some humor during these past 2 weeks we would not be able to endure this challenge, and watch her suffering even though she is heavily sedated and the nurses say she is in no pain, there are times we have our doubts.

A little humor is needed at this time. Donna would use it if she could. What a wonderful family she has and keep up your strength as we are praying for all of you.
Donna, you have suffered long enough, be free, soar like an eagle, and become that angel looking down over us, until we meet again. God Bless all of you!

Oh man, humor is the only thing that keeps us sane at these times, and I truly believe Donna would have it no other way. She always managed to find humor in everything she had to face, and will appreciate it during this time. You are an amazing group and Donna is truly blessed to have you there with her. Once again Donna I say goodbye to you, with love.

Donna,
I had a really nice surprise yesterday as Jana dropped off Kade's baby gift. I want to thank-you so much for the gift. You are always so very thoughtful and it is greatly appreciated. I'm so happy that I'm still able to thank-you. Mom and I still have a baby gift for Junelle so we will have to drop it off someday soon. This is too funny! God bless you Donna! You will be in my heart always!
Love,
Raelene

Brenda & family,
God bless you all for the strength you have.... it has been a great deal of time since Donna and I last had "coffee" at Family Pizza.... but I do remember her wonderful sense of humor... we all need humor, and I am so glad to hear you all still have it in your life...

Donna,
We all need another angel to watch over us... so go and be free...
Til we meet again...
love,

Adrienne Winkel

Hi Jag, Brenda, Colleen and all the families,

We are always thinking of you all and we are still praying for you Donna. You have the best of angels helping you during this trying time. I believe strongly that humor is the best therapy when ever you have it for sure. I can see Brenda and Colleen giving you all a bit of humor throughout these days as we have a great time when we get the chance to see them.
Donna you are THE BEST ANGEL among us. Please be at peace and know you are loved by many.

Prayers and loving thoughts:

Our Dear, Dear Donna,

It's us, Kathleen and Ed. We just want you to know that we are here for Darren and Junell and for your mom, dad, brother, sisters and their families. In case they are ever in need of anything, they can just call us. We will try the best we can to take your place as a support for them and your many friends, although we have big shoes to fill. We want you to rest easy with this knowledge.

We love you and know that you will always be with us in spirit. You know we believe in angels, so you can talk to us whenever and wherever you want and we'll hear you and talk with you. Heck, we might just talk to you so much you'll ask us to stop.

Go to be with God Donna, where your goodness and kindness can touch so many more people than the hundreds you have on earth.

We love you and hold you in our hearts.

Kathleen and Ed

Dear Donna and Family
Donna - you continue to amaze our family with your strength and determination. You are obviously not ready to go just yet, and the angels are trying to get you there, but you will go when it's the right time for you. Thank you God for the gift of humour to cope during these difficult times - Donna - we know you are quite okay with that, and would do the same.
Our prayers to all of you.
Love,
Lori, Murray, Nevin and Megan.

Donna,Darren and family, your strength and love as a family is so heartwarming, you must be growing very weary through this hard time, but having a little humor is what Donna would want as we all know, and I'm sure she hears it and it brings her comfort. Now we know where her humor comes from, its a great gift to be able to keep in times like this. Donna, i truly believe that friends are angels sent from God, its his way of taking care of us here on earth, now it is time for him to take one home,a place where you can watch over and protect us all for the rest of our days. I know Junell will be well taken care of and watched over by everyone, including you.We are all blessed that she is here,a piece of you, whenever we look into those little Hendriks eyes of hers, we will see you, and you will never be forgotten.I'm not going to say good-bye my friend..I'll just see you a little later, in a place that is better than here.I continue to keep you all in my heart and in my prayers,God give you all the strength you need to get through these long days and nights, thinking of you constantly, Love Tanya S.
