Donna's Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that the family of Donna (nee Hendriks) Sorotski of Saskatoon, (and formerly of Humboldt), announces her premature death at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Monday, March 17, 2008, following a heroic trek with cancer. She was 41 years of age. Donna was born on January 5, 1967, to Edmund and Reyneldis (nee Strueby) Hendriks at Humboldt. She grew up there and attended St. Augustine School and Humboldt Collegiate Institute. On June 18, 2005, Donna married Darren Sorotski. They resided in Saskatoon, where Donna was employed as an Administrative Assistant for Sterling Trucking. The role that was nearest and dearest to Donna’s heart was that of mother to her precious daughter Junell, who was born on November 15, 2006. Throughout her life, Donna pursued a number of hobbies and interests, including volleyball, slow pitch, camping, dancing, and photo editing. Her magnetic personality attracted many good friends, whom she cherished. Socializing or visiting on the phone with her family and friends always lit up her life. As a devoted homemaker and loving mother and wife, Donna truly enjoyed tending to her domestic chores, cleaning, doing laundry, cooking and baking. Each week she looked forward to attending the Mom’s Morning Out group at Holy Family Parish in Saskatoon. More than anything, Donna loved spending time doting on her beloved Junell. Donna is survived by her husband, Darren Sorotski and daughter Junell (16 months) of Saskatoon; parents, Edmund and Reyneldis (nee Strueby) Hendriks of Humboldt; one brother, three sisters and their families: Myron (Betty) Hendriks and children Breanna and Brendan of Cochrane, AB; Kelly Hendriks (Terry Woloschuck) of Yorkton; Brenda (Alan) Painter and children Ryan and Cole of Humboldt; and Colleen (Lee) Dufort and children Colby and Cameron of Humboldt; parents-in-law, Michael and Juliann Sorotski of Kenaston and their children and families; and by her Godparents, Maurice and Rosemarie Strueby of Muenster. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Herman and Annie Hendriks; maternal grandparents, Edward and Petronella Strueby; four aunts: Rosie Hendriks, Cornelia (nee Hendriks) Kelly, Juliette Strueby, and Darlene Strueby; one uncle, Theodore Hendriks; and by three cousins: Marlene Vredegoor, Lorne Hendriks, and Roxanne (nee Strueby) Brûlé. The Prayer Service for Donna was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., led by Nestor Trach and organist Denise Germain. Scripture readers were Charlotte Hawes and Lynn Spence, and the eulogy was delivered by Lorianne and Kevin Earis. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C.
